Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Peritoneal Mesothelioma is a type of cancer that attacks the lining of the abdomen. The cancer envelops many of the organs in the abdomen by a thin membrane of mesothelial cells, known as the peritoneum. Its only known cause in the U.S. is previous exposure to asbestos, and in most of the cases, the disease appears after many years of the exposure to the asbestos. Peritoneal mesotheliomas account for about one-fifth of all mesotheliomas. It affects the lining that protects the contents of the abdomen and which also provides a lubricating fluid to enable the organs to move and work properly.

This type asbestos-related cancer is the second most common after Pleural Mesothelioma. Just like pleural mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma can be either benign or malignant. There are a number of symptoms for this disease. These symptoms typically include abdominal pains, weakness, weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea, and abdominal swelling. Depending on the location of the tumor, additional problems such as breathing problems and severe pains can be experienced. Fluid often accumulates in the peritoneal space, a condition known as ascites. Over time the wasting symptoms can become more and more severe.

X-rays and CT scans are, typically, the first step towards detecting peritoneal mesothelioma. Though the actual diagnosis is achieved by obtaining a piece of tissue from the victim?s body. Presently, there are treatments, but no for sure known cure, for peritoneal mesothelioma. The prognosis depends on various factors, including the size and stage of the tumor, its extent, the cell type, and whether or not the tumor responds to treatment. However, the options for relief and treatment of people with peritoneal mesothelioma have opened up, especially for those whose cancer is diagnosed early and treated vigorously.

Specific types of treatment for peritoneal mesothelioma include:

1-Surgery

2-Radiation Therapy

3-Chemotherapy

Peritoneal Mesothelioma causes many deaths each year. Although it is not the most common form of this cancer, many new cases come to light each year. However, with continued research and clinical trials, it may be possible to one day make this a curable disease and save the life of people who have fallen victim to this dreadful disease.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma provides detailed information on peritoneal mesothelioma, peritoneal mesothelioma treatment, peritoneal mesothelioma lawyers, peritoneal mesothelioma survival rates and more. Peritoneal Mesothelioma is affliated with Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma.

BEING PART OF THE SOLUTION - MESOTHELIOMA PATIENTS DO THEIR PART PARTICIPATING IN CLINICAL TRIALS AND EXPERIMENTAL PROCEDURES

There are many reasons patients might opt in or out of participating in medical research and experimental treatments. For many the reasons are personal and it varies from individual to individual. All know that they are involved in something great, not only for themselves, but also for others suffering from the disease.

Benefits of Participating in Experimental Treatments and Procedures

- Patients benefit from the best that the medical field has to offer to treat this terminal disease and makes world-class, first-rate, cutting-edge healthcare accessible and available to all who choose to participate
- There is always the personal element of doing something, their part to contribute to finding a cure
- Hope springs eternal. There are always the chance that some of these newer treatments may be more effective and actually cure the disease.
- It could be very cost-effective and participation is sometimes all that is required and treatments may even be free of charge
- Ongoing, relevant care and constant monitoring by experienced staff, means you are in good hands all throughout the onset, developing and even final stages of this disease

Associated Risks Involved in Participating in Experimental Treatments and Procedures

There will always be some element of risk associated with these scientific and medical experiments. There are uncertainties and unknowns.

- In some cases a new therapy or drug has not yet been tested on humans and side-effects are unknown.
- It will be compared against existing methods and you will still benefit from standard therapies and treatment .
- The costs of participation is usually low to none and participation voluntary. You are always free to refuse or decline.
- You might also be part of a control group, where you might only receive a placebo (still benefit from standard treatment.
- There are no guarantees with these experimental treatments, therapies and remedies
- It does offer yet another alternative and potential cure that can be found
- The value proposition makes a lot of sense and the benefits normally outweigh the risks involved for most patients

Mesothelioma - The Law & You

Mesothelioma law includes laws that regulate employee exposure to asbestos, mesothelioma law that allows people with mesothelioma to seek compensation for their illness, and new laws that Congress is currently debating with regards to how mesothelioma victims, or their decedents can be compensated for their medical expenses, pain and suffering, and possible loss of future income.

All mesothelioma law involves the risk or actual development of mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the mesothelium in the body. Mesothelium is the lining that surrounds most organs. Pleural mesothelioma is cancer of the lung's mesothelium. Peritoneal mesothelioma involves the lining of the abdomen. These cancers develop almost exclusively as a result of exposure to harmful levels of asbestos

Over 1.3 million people are exposed to asbestos in their work environment each year. Building, construction, railroad, factory, automotive, and shipyard industry employees are all potential victims of asbestos related illness and are the people protected by mesothelioma law. Construction workers have the highest risk of exposure to asbestos.

The Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 (CAW 2002) make it very clear that if you own, occupy, manage, or have responsibility for non-domestic premises which may contain asbestos, you will have a legal duty to either manage the asbestos risk or will have a legal duty to co-operate with whoever manages that risk.

A common misinterpretation of Regulation 4 of CAW 2002 is that companies have to survey their premises to comply with the requirements. This is not the case - the requirements are a DUTY TO MANAGE the risks associated with asbestos in the workplace.

The essence behind this duty is to prevent exposure to asbestos, particularly when the exposure is through ignorance. Informing staff and visitors is not where this ends - for example, contractors attending sites to carry out maintenance work, install cabling or refurbish an area need to be informed of any asbestos risk AND a record of their visit and acknowledgment of your instruction are also required.

A permit to work system has to be introduced or extended to cover the regulations, and the permit can only be issued by the "authorising person" (being a person who authorises any maintenance work in the building). Any presumed, or confirmed, asbestos information also has to be made available to the emergency services.

When identifying asbestos, the rule is that of assumption - unless you can prove materials do NOT contain asbestos then you HAVE to assume it does, and therefore treat it as though it does. This can lead to expensive testing and surveying and hence the need to assess the situation first with a materials risk analysis and an understanding of the location/condition.

Many newer buildings are less likely to have asbestos within them but it is important to establish what is, or is not, there, to record the findings, and incorporate them into a management plan. Initiating the basis of a plan and booking a survey will show good intent to compliance and is the first step to a safer workplace for all.

The penalties for non-compliance can be extremely strong and claiming ignorance of the regulations is no defence. The penalties for non-compliance with the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2002 can be as follows:

HSE inspectors can issue prohibition notices which can close areas or entire sites Companies can be fined an unlimited amount and individuals can be fined ?20,000. Responsible individuals can be imprisoned for up to two years Directors of companies can be disqualified As you can see, the law related to asbestos is very strong. The good news though is that it costs you nothing to have an impartial initial discussion with a lawyer.

Mesothelioma Is An Incurable Cancer That Makes Lawyers Rich

Mesothelioma is a cancer which is linked to exposure to asbestos fibers in 70 to 80 percent of cases.

The National Cancer institute defines malignant mesothelioma as "a rare form of cancer...a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the sac lining the chest (the pleura), the lining of the abdominal cavity (the peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (the pericardium)."

It is one of the most deadly cancers known to man; the average life span of an afflicted person from the time of diagnosis until death is less than 24 months.

Mesothelioma develops in approximately 3,000 United States citizens every year. Most of those diagnosed have a history of occupational exposure to asbestos, though a few have environmental or household contact. This cancer has an extremely long latency period; an exposure period of as little as one or two months can result in a mesothelioma up to 50 years later. Patients who had contact with asbestos as far back as the 1940s are now being diagnosed with this disease. In fact, the average time between exposure and the development of mesothelioma is 35-40 years.

When asbestos first came into use, its risks were unknown, and it was widely used as a fire-retardant material. Many people worked with this deadly substance, unaware that it would kill them several decades later. Workers such as bricklayers, insulaters, plasterers, electricians, mechanics, carpenters, and other tradesmen were exposed to asbestos on a daily basis as it was contained in many insulation and construction materials.

Even occassional exposure to asbestos is a health risk, and there have been many cases of mesothelioma developing in patients who only had brief contact, such as wives of asbestos-exposed workers who washed their husbands' overalls.

Due to the long latency period and vague, diffuse initial symptoms, there is often a delay in accurate diagnosis. As with many cancers, early symptoms can be mild and non-specific. Often patients present with only shortness of breath and a persistent cough; some show no symptoms at all in the initial stages, and the disease is first noticed on a routine chest X-ray. One early tell-tale sign is pleural effusion, a collection of fluid in the lungs. The right lung is affected 60% of the time, bilateral involvement being seen in 5% of cases. Less common initial complaints due to lung mesothelioma are fever, night sweats, weight loss, a raspy voice and facial swelling. Peritoneal mesothelioma can cause abdominal symptoms such as pain, abdominal swelling, nausea, weight loss, bowel obstruction, anemia and swelling of the feet. As the disease progresses, patients often develop severe cachexia (wasting).

One of the most common symptoms of mesothelioma, pleural effusion, is an accumulation of fluid between the parietal pleura, which covers the chest wall and diaphragm, and the visceral pleura, which covers the lungs. Both membranes are covered with mesothelial cells which, under normal conditions, produce a small amount of fluid that acts as a lubricant between the chest wall and the lung. Any excess fluid is removed via blood and lymph vessels, thus maintaining a balance. When more fluid is produced than can be absorbed, an effusion forms.

These effusions are called either transudates and exudates. A transudate is a clear fluid that forms not because the pleural surfaces are diseased, but because of an imbalance between the normal production and removal of the fluid. Often this is caused by congestive heart failure. An exudate, which contains many cells and proteins and is often cloudy in color, results from disease of the pleura itself, and is common to mesothelioma. To differentiate between a transudate or an exudate, a diagnostic thoracentesis, in which a needle or catheter is used to obtain a fluid sample, may be conducted.

As the volume of excess fluid increases, symptoms develop such as shortness of breath (dyspnea) , chest pain, or a non-productive dry cough. Heard through a stethoscope, normal breath sounds are muted, and tapping on the chest will reveal dull rather than hollow sounds.

A pleural effusion can be seen with a chest X-ray, ultrasound or CT scan. Since pleural effusions are often caused by congestive heart failure, the discovery of an effusion is not in itself immediately suggestive of a malignant process.

A histological examination of pleural fluid is negative in 85% of cases; a definitive diagnoses is more often is obtained by a needle biopsy or surgical biopsy of pleural tissue.

Symptomatic treatment of lung compression caused by effusion is accomplished by application of a sclerosing agent which eliminates the space between the lung and the chest cavity, a process called chemical pleurodesis. Talc is usually used, with a success rate of 95%. It can be administered either as a powder or as a slurry mixed with saline. A surgical team opens the chest wall, removes the effusion, then collapses the lung before applying the talc. Once the lung is fused to the chest wall, an effusion can no longer accumulate and compress the lung. This is strictly a palliative measure to improve the patient's quality of life, and has no effect on the progression of the disease.

Attemps to cure mesothelioma utilize surgery to remove diseased tissue, combined with chemo and raiotherapy. Several new treatment modalities are currently being investigated. These include Photodynamic therapy, which uses light of particular frequencies to target and kill cancer cells which, compared to normal tissue, display increased uptake of photosensitizing drugs; immunotherapy, which fights the abnormal cells through stimulation of the body's own immune system; and Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, which is a radiation treatment that attempts to target just the malignancy, thus avoiding damage to adjacent healthy cells and tissue. In addition, some success has been acheived with the chemotherapeutic drug Alitma (pemetrexed). However, despite the number of clinical trials currently underway, as of the date of this article the prognosis for mesothelioma sufferers is still extremely poor.

Treatment Of Mesothelioma

There are treatments for all patients with malignant Mesothelioma. However, the treatment option that is chosen for a particular patient depends on a number of factors such as the location of the cancer, the stage of the disease, patient?s age and general health, the extent of the damage, etc. treatment is generally of three kinds,

1. Surgery in which case the cancerous portion is removed from the body.
2. Radiation therapy (using x-rays or other high-energy rays to kill cancer cells).
3. Chemotherapy (using drugs to fight the cancer).

Surgery
Surgery is the physical way of treating Mesothelioma in which the cancerous cells are physically removed. Surgery is a common way to treat malignant Mesothelioma. The doctor may remove part of the lining of the chest or abdomen and some of the tissue around it. Sometimes, if the cancer has spread widely, a lung can be totally removed in a surgical procedure called a pneumonectomy. Along with the lung, part of the diaphragm, is also sometimes removed, diaphragm is the muscle below the lungs that helps with breathing. This will temporarily solve the problem of difficulty in breathing.

Radiation Therapy
In radiation therapy high-energy x-rays are used to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. There are two kinds of radiation therapy, external radiation therapy and internal radiation therapy. When the radiation comes from a machine outside the body it is called external radiation therapy. When materials that produce radiation, are put inside the body through thin plastic tubes in the area where the cancer cells are found, it is called internal radiation therapy.

To relieve symptoms and control pain, the doctor may use a needle or a thin tube to drain fluid that has built up in the chest or abdomen. The procedure for removing fluid from the chest is called thoracocentesis. Removal of fluid from the abdomen is called paracentesis. Drugs may be given through a tube in the chest to prevent more fluid from accumulating. Radiation therapy and surgery may also be helpful in relieving symptoms.

Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy uses drugs to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy may be taken by pill, or it may be put into the body by a needle in the vein or muscle. Chemotherapy is called a systemic treatment because the drug enters the bloodstream, travels through the body, and can kill cancer cells throughout the body. In Mesothelioma, chemotherapy may be put directly into the chest (intrapleural chemotherapy).

Treatment options for people with Mesothelioma have improved significantly. This is more so in cases where the diagnosis has been early and treatment has been aggressive. Many people are treated with a combination of the above-discussed therapies and this is known as multimodal therapy. Mesothelioma is a fatal disease and so far no cure has been found for the disease. However, treatments can reduce pain and improve lung function. Easily administered pain killers are now used to control pain. How Your Decision Can Help Cure Mesothelioma Cancer Forever

It doesn't require much to get involved in the fight against one of our health's biggest enemies: mesothelioma cancer. In fact: it only takes your decision to take action to help mesothelioma cancer victims create and fund a $30 million per year federal program.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, Inc., or MARF, has just been created to raise funds for research on new therapies for malignant mesothelioma cancer.

Asbestos Mesothelioma is a cancer that affects thousands each year. The fatal disease appears in the form of a malignant tumor that aggressively invades the linings of the lungs, abdomen, heart or testicles. Excessive exposure to asbestos seems to be one of the reasons that create Mesothelioma. Unfortunately research for the cancer is currently under funded, but with your help that is all about to change .

http://www.fight-mesothelioma.info/fight-mesothelioma.html

It only takes your decision to take action and to sign a petition online to help generate $30 million in federal money for the National Mesothelioma Research and Treatment Program.

The main focus of the program is the early detection and prevention of mesothelioma cancer. To ensure that a cure is discovered and to help those that are already affected by the disease it targets also different areas of therapeutic research and education.

One of the nicest things about the Internet is that you can quickly and always take actionon whatever you want to make an instant change. So why not take advantage on this fact and help to save the lives of thousands just by digitally signing this online petition now?

What is a Mesothelioma Lawyer?

What is a Mesothelioma Lawyer?

Mesothelioma lawyers deal specifically with cases concerning people being exposed to asbestos in the work environment. Asbestos was used as a building material years ago because it was not flammable and did not conduct electricity. However, later studies have shown it can cause some forms of cancer. Mesothelioma, a form of cancer that affects the inner lining of the chest, is one of those forms of cancer. Because asbestos was a common building material and is still found, there has been a call for mesothelioma lawyers to look into cases of people who were exposed to asbestos and have been diagnosed with this form of cancer.Mesothelioma lawyers deal specifically with cases concerning people being exposed to asbestos in the work environment. Because asbestos was a common building material and is still found, there has been a call for mesothelioma lawyers to look into cases of people who were exposed to asbestos and have been diagnosed with this form of cancer.

The Mesothelioma Lawyer and Asbestos Cases

Before asbestos was found to be a potential cause for cancer, it was seen as a great building material. Therefore it was used a lot, and both workers who installed it and employees who worked in these buildings were unknowingly exposed to a cancerous element. These people are only now seeing the effects of their exposure to asbestos, and are bringing cases against the companies that either installed it or owned the buildings. The cases are increasing, causing a need for a specialized brand of lawyer - the mesothelioma lawyer.

Some types of asbestos that can cause cancer:

  • Amosite
  • Anthophyllite
  • Chrysotile
  • Crocidolite

Mesothelioma Lawyers and the Courtroom

Though has not yet been definitively proven that asbestos cause Mesothelioma, many studies have been done to prove a link between the two... enough studies to make mesothelioma lawyers very busy. The asbestos is made of loosely bonded fibers, which can easily be separated. These fibers can float in the air and easily get into your respiratory system. Before these studies, when asbestos was used as a common material, no one suggested the need for proper safety procedures - a fact that mesothelioma lawyers point to as a reason their clients now have this form of cancer.

Bush's Mental Health Program Endangers Children and Will Bankrupt MedicaidMelissa Gordon | October 20 2004The story in the news is that Bush is endorsing a mental health program that will target children in schools for mental health screenings. The commission claims that even though child mental health prescriptions have increased 500% from 1999-2003, they aren't getting enough "treatment". The screenings will be mandatory and prescription drug treatment will be too. That's not all this program does though, under the new plan doctors can only prescribe the most dangerous and expensive drugs on the market. The new plan is ironically named "New Freedom commission"(NFC).

TMAP- Bankrupting Medicaid Before the Baby Boomers Even Use It

Bush endorsed and implemented TMAP in Texas and of the 22 members in the New Freedom Commission, 14 are directly associated with that organization. The New Freedom Act is a fraud. It is modeled after The Texas Medication Algorithm Project (TMAP). An algorithm is like a menu at a restaurant with drugs as the choices, if its not on the menu the doctor cannot order the prescription. TMAP takes advantage of foster children, institutionalized people, veterans and prisoners to further drug company profits as well as robbing the American tax-payers. It forces state and Medicaid doctors to prescribe super-expensive, dangerous new medications to mental health patients.

TMAP has even persuaded officials into giving Medicaid to people who don't need it so they can afford the overpriced medications and by early 2001 the program bankrupted Texas's Medicaid system. At the rate TMAP guidelines explode Medicaid expenses we will be paying an outlandish 3.7 billion a year for schizophrenia medications alone, effectively bankrupting Medicaid nationwide.

Here's an example of a Drug that doctors will be required to prescribe:

Zyprexa
This is a new Medication for bi-polar disorder and it costs $6,000 more per patient than older, safer drugs like Haldal according to Yale researchers, Veterans Medical Hospital researchers and FDA trials. FDA Data also shows Zyprexa to be one of he deadliest drugs ever approved, yet our war veterans and children will be forced to use it while the rest of us pay for it. FDA trials for Zyprexa show that 65% of patients dropped out of the trial due to side effects and during the 6-week trial 20 deaths occurred, 12 of them suicides. The FDA approved Zyprexa ONLY for short-term treatment of bi-polar individuals.

TMAP mandates that Zyprexa be used for many different disorders for long term use.
Hurting our children

TMAP developed a special children's algorithm (drug menu) called The Texas Children's Medication Algorithm Project or TCMAP. The same group of bribed experts decided that the same drugs would be used for children as adults; no facts were needed because the recommendations were made based on what the drug companies told them to recommend.

Drugs TCMAP forces doctors to prescribe to children:
(All are brand name)

Zoloft, which is expensive, has a 17% dropout rate in child clinical trials due to intolerable side effects and only has a 10% improvement rate on children with depression and mood disorders. The FDA specifically states that this drug should not be used by persons under the age of 18.
Seroxat, which is expensive and has been shown to increase suicide attempts in minors.
Paxil. This drug is not only expensive but has been directly shown to increase murder, violence, school shootings and debilitating conditions such as brain dysfunction and heart problems in young people. It also increases self-harm and suicide attempts in children. On top of all this British studies show that Paxil didn't improve children's mood anymore than a sugar pill. The FDA said in 2003 that Paxil should not to be prescribed to minors.
Serzon. Expensive and has a earned a "black box" warning due to its tendency to cause liver failure and death in adults and children.
Safer, cheaper drugs are available but TCMAP maintains that the drugs they make the most money on are the best choice for children's mental health issues.
Bribery In Action

TMAP is fully owned and operated by drug companies, mainly Janssen pharmaceuticals, and parades itself as a medically oriented and helpful government program. The organization accomplished this by bribing doctors, university officials and government officials into lying about the superiority of their drugs; then the officials they've duped allow them to make laws that use the lies as medical guidelines. Although all Janssen's activities cannot be known here's what is known so far:

Janssen pays $2,000 speaking fees to gov. officials and doctors who are in the position to approve TMAP and make laws favoring their algorithms. The "speakers" tell people that Janssen drugs are superior and miraculous and then approve their drugs and guidelines from within government agencies and universities. Multiple speeches result in multiple payments in the sum of $2,000 or more. Here's an example of a speakers relationship with Janssen:
Boston Globe | November 10 2003
Dr. Douglas Hughs was charged with endangering his patients by the Massachusetts government and had his license taken because, without medical reason, he forced several patients to switch to the new drug Risperdal and nearly killed a patient. Risperdal is an expensive, dangerous new schizophrenia drug made by Janssen. The doctor switched the drugs to experiment on the patients for the drug company, which paid him a grand total of $30,000 in "public speaking fees" to talk about their new drugs. Dr. Hughs has since resigned his position at The Soloman Carter Fuller Mental Health Center.

Janssen paid for luxury trips, expensive meals and entertainment for officials who were in the position to approve TMAP and the drugs they endorse.
To keep state health officials from investigating TMAPS dangerous, expensive drug regimen, Janssen's government official "speakers" have issued TMAP medication guidelines as administrative orders in many of the states it now operates in. The reason is that administration is the paperwork end of government and cannot be investigated for safety by state medical regulators.
TMAPS drug company founders contributed a total of $384,735 in 2002 in Texas alone. It must be mentioned that these are only the known contributions and that there are probably many more undisclosed contributions.
Fighting Back
Already Colorado and Nevada are suing approximately 17 of the drug companies associated with TMAP for fraud and racketeering. Officials of Pennsylvania's Office of the Inspector General are suing several other government officials in that state because they lied about drug safety and took bribes from TMAP and their funders: Dwight McKee & Allen Jones v. Henry Hart, Sydni Guido and several other officials.

Mesothelioma Types

Mesothelioma Types

Exposure to asbestos or asbestos related products can cause a rare type of cancer called Mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is separated into two groups, malignant and benign.

The three main types of malignant mesotheliomas are epithelioid, sarcomatoid and mixed/biphasic. Epithelioid is the most common kind as around 50-70% of all mesothelioma cases reported are this type. Epithelioid also has the best chances of survival. It affects the internal organs and internal surfaces coverings. Sarcomatoid is a much more serious condition as it affects the secondary tissues in the body such as cartilage, muscles, bone and fat. However, this cancer is much rarer, as it only occurs 7-20% of the time. Mixed/biphasic is having both types of the cancer at once, and this makes up 20-35% of the occurrences.

There are three targeted areas that mesothelioma can affect. Pleural mesothelioma affects the pleural cavity around the lungs and is responsible for a majority 75% of all cases diagnosed. Peritoneal mesothelioma accounts for 10-20% of all cases and affects the tissues in the abdomen (especially the stomach and intestines). Pericardial mesothelioma is the rarest form which affects the sac and lining surrounding the heart.

Regardless of the type, mesothelioma is fatal. Survival rates are usually only 1-5 years after diagnosis. If you or a loved one has been affected by mesothelioma, you may have the legal right to seek compensation for your suffering. Please visit http://www.resource4mesothelioma.com for more information.

"Why Exercise Equipment Can Be A Boon For The WorkingPaul Johnson

Exercise equipment manufacturing companies have researched
that maintaining health is the one of the foremost goals of
every workingman or woman. They feel that without fitness
it would be difficult for them to enjoy the life or become
successful.

The employers look for employees that are fit and active.
Even the children feel happy with fit and sturdy parents.
This enhanced quest for fitness has motivated the exercise
equipment manufacturers to produce long lasting, cheap and
affordable fitness equipment.

Exercise Is Necessary For Social And Professional Success
You need high level of energy of achieve success in
professional as well as social life. This is more so in the
case of parents because they need extra energy to cope-up
with their busy professional schedules and responsibility
towards the kids.

This energy can be obtained only through regular exercise
and workouts. Regular exercise increases your stamina and
enhances your concentration, productivity and confidence.

However, the working people are too busy to maintain
outdoors exercise schedule and that is where home exercise
equipment as exercise bikes and other fitness equipment
chip in.

This is more because most of the people who start an
exercise routine quit within a few weeks. Every morning you
have to get up, get ready and catch the early morning bus
or start early in your car.

You have only one option but to skip your morning jogging
in the central park because it is 15 minutes away. If you
can't do a full routine exercise, isn't there an option?
Home Exercise equipment is a simple answer to this crisis.
These simple and economic fitness equipments allow you to
exercise at your home.

Some exercise equipment as bike even allows you to use your
newspaper reading or TV time for dual purpose. You can read
newspaper or watch morning news while exercising. Is it not
an interesting way to keep fit and stay informed at the
same time?

Home Exercise Equipment- An Affordable Reason To Stay Fit

Many people harbor a myth that Exercise equipments are
expensive, and do not last long. However, the increasing
demand and subsequent for exercise equipment has led to the
induction of many innovative technologies in the production
of exercise equipment.

New home exercise equipments are very sturdy and use high
grade of metal and plastics. Cost of startup exercise
equipment is much lesser than the annual fees of an average
gym.

If you are looking for even economic options, you can find
discounted and sparingly used equipments in garage sales
and online auction sites. Cheap exercise equipments are not
necessarily low value ones and you can easily find a
sparingly used fitness machine that can work wonders on
your body.

Bodybuilding Sins That Cause Back Pain and Missed Workouts: Part 5

Article #5 - Rest, Recovery and Injury Prevention

Many of the injuries that bodybuilders suffer from could be easily prevented just by allowing the body enough time to rest

While most bodybuilders dread hearing the word rest, many fail to realize that there is far more to rest than just avoiding overtraining. When you perform a tough workout you not only stress that muscle or muscle group, you also place stress on the cardiovascular, neuromuscular and components of the immune system

For example, many bodybuilders will train their chest 2-3 times a week and spend an hour or more performing dozens of exercises just for the pecs

While this may sound ok to some, when you add in the stress of other workouts it can quickly add up to too much stress in one or more ways. I hear bodybuilders all the time say I let my body rest by splitting up my workouts and I worked chest yesterday so today Ill train my back thats NOT rest!

When you train your back, your chest still gets worked, stressed and it also slows down your bodies ability to recover from stress and repair damage from previous workouts

So dont kid yourself and think that you can train this way over the long term it may take years or just a few weeks, but sooner or later your body will break down!

Let me give you a real life example from my experience

I, like nearly every single bodybuilder out there, created muscle imbalance unknowingly by following the workouts recommended in all the books, magazines, etc

I trained 4,5 and sometimes even 6 days a week and thought that I was resting enough by splitting my workouts to make a long story short, after just a few years I had tendonitis in both triceps because I worked chest, tris and shoulder too often, too intensely and didnt balance out my training

I also had lower and middle back pain, knee problems and IT band tendonitis because my lower body workouts werent balanced I spent too much time doing heavy squatting, too often and neglected important muscles

These injuries stayed with me for months, years and I still can have an occasional flare up if I dont stay consistent with a balanced training program. I was able to create all this damage by the age of 22 I am now 28 and will have to spend the rest of my life trying to prevent these old injuries from coming back and causing more pain and problems

Dont do what I did! And if you already have, you better act fast and take a serious look at your training and your goals because if you dont, you will spend the rest of your life in pain and frustrated by all the injuries, big and small.

So heres my

5-Step Formula for Quickly Eliminating and Preventing Aches, Pains and Injuries

Step 1. Rest and Recovery

The first thing you need to do is REST! And no, I dont mean take a day or two off I mean no workouts for at least a week or more you need to give your body a chance to reduce the inflammation before you can begin work on eliminating or correcting the cause of the problem.
You may also want to use things like a heating pad, hot tub or massage to help reduce the inflammation and speed up the healing and recovery

Step 2. Identify Muscle Imbalances

The next thing you need to do is find out which muscle imbalances have created your injury or are causing your pain and work towards correcting them you can do this quickly and easily by performing physical assessments in which you are looking for strength and flexibility imbalances in all opposing muscle groups.

You can do these assessments yourself and they are covered in our Lose the Back Pain Video http://www.losethebackpain.com

Step 3. Increase Flexibility in Tight Muscles with Targeted Stretching

In order to correct a muscle imbalance, you need to increase the flexibility and range of motion in the muscles that are too tight and causing a problem.

As we discussed in the previous articles, you have got to know what muscles NEED to be stretched before you start stretching. General stretching may or may not help it may even make things worse! You have got to target the right areas and the only way to ensure that you are, is to do assessments and find out.

Step 4. Strengthen Weak Muscles with Targeted Strength Exercises

The other major step in correcting muscle imbalances is to strength the weak muscles that are being overpowered by the strong and tight opposing muscle(s).

The same is also true for strengthening you have to make sure that you choose the right exercises and the only way to know for sure is thru assessments dont use guesswork when choosing exercises!

Step 5. Monitor and Modify Your Program

The key to long term pain relief and injury prevention is to consistently monitor your progress and adjust your program for example, as you work on correcting and preventing muscle imbalances the strength and flexibility of your muscles will change and therefore, you must then re-assess and change your program and workouts accordingly.

You will typically see changes in your strength, flexibility and bio-mechanics in as little as 2-4 weeks so I recommend that you re-assess yourself at least every 4-6 weeks.

So there you have it 5 simple steps that you can take right now to work on eliminating any pain or injuries you currently have AND make sure you never create any new ones to deal with in the future.

Following these steps will not only help you eliminate aches, pains and injuries and it will also allow you to train more intensely and productively to get you the results you want.

Hope you enjoyed and benefited from this article series and we look forward to hearing of your success.
